Mzery Loves Company: MLC Story

THE STORY THUS FAR...

This is the TRUE STORY [True Story], of four strangers [four cool chicks, eh?], picked to play in a band, and have their musical journey taped.

To find out what happens when people stop being polite and start taking this music shit for real...check early and often for MLC.

--------------------------------------------

Since forming in Sasha’s garage one chilly fall day, Mzery Loves Company broke into the hip-rock scene in 2007 with their debut album Herstory 101.

The band’s latest album, Order N Chaos, unites Mzery’s hardcore lyrics with Liz’s gutter baseline, Ladie Clair’s dirty-dirty licks, and SashNja’s nasty backbeat, to almost effortlessly push out a mob of chart-topping bangers.

With standout tracks like Liquify, Mizta Mizta, Liquid Crack, and Wake Up, the music of Mzery Loves Company attracts all those attracted to good music.

From hip-hop heads to rock fiends, from alternative junkies to funk buffs – everybody knows…

MZERY - Lyricist

Mzery [and Misery] brings the truth. Though sometimes the truth brings pain. And usually when there is pain, there's my name... MZERY.

When people ask me where Im from my usual response is, My mother. Although I was born in Springfield, Massachusetts I do not consider myself a native. I only lived there for three months and soon after that I moved to Hawaii for seven years. Seven years in Hawaii was probably the longest I ever lived in any one place. As a family we moved around a lot, partly due to the military and partly because of job opportunities. None the less Ive lived most of my life here and there in the state of Maryland. Its hard for me to pinpoint the exact time that I fell in love with hip-hop but I must of fell in love with music as a whole, at birth or at the time of conception. My father used to D.J from time to time, mostly for family affairs but this still played an important role in my development. Among other talents he taught himself to play the piano and the guitar. I grew up listening to such influences as Pink Floyd, The Gap Band, Sade, Bonnie Rait, The Supremes, Frankie Beverly, and so on. I guess you can say my musical influences are between far and wide. When you move around as much as I did and youre always the new girl at school you learn to observe and analyze your surroundings first before anything else. Always the bystander, I witnessed so such much that there was really nothing left to do but write about it. I always had this strong desire to unleash these feelings I had about life and people and different situations, it just so happened that it leaked out through poetry. And so the wheel begins! My poems eventually turned to writing rhymes and eventually an emcee was born. Music is my life! I sometimes wonder what life would be like without music. If there is one thing I am sure of its the fact that I will always be involved with HipHop in one way or the other. I dont care if I never make it to some big time celebrity status I just want to be respected as an artist.

MZERY SAYS: If I could drink it. I would. If I could smoke it. I would.

SASHA LAWLESS - Drummer ... or AM I!

Sasha -The Godmother- is an enigma. Inexplicable really. All we can really gather is that she prefers her Jack be neat and her drumheads be Remo.

If she's not in the studio, then she's probably in other the studio. That, or at band practice.

THE LADIE CLAIR - Lead Guitar

Carla (aka The Ladie Clair) former guitarist for Tribe Naked Joy, Pulse, and Merge, picked up a guitar at age 9 and decided she was never going to put it down. While kids in her neighborhood were playing Nintendo she was playing Welcome to the Jungle on her guitar. Needless to say she is very rock influenced, that can be recognized in the bands stage perfomances. It's not unsual to hear heavy guitar riffs or even Enter Sandman during the bands introduction. Just like her bandmates, she is a lover of music. She spent her school age years playing trombone in concert band and marching band. At age 16 she borrowed a Euphonium from her music teacher, taught herself how to play, and performed in the Tuba Christmas concert held each year at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. There's nothing this lady won't try. When she's not on stage with Mzery Loves Company she enjoys working in her home studio where she play drums, bass, guitar, and keyboard the songs that she writes range from classical, to hiphop, blues, rock, jazz, and pop. "I enjoy challenging myself musically, and it's nice to know that after all the hard work I get to share it with people, then they share it with people, next thing you know you've got a room full of smiling people. That's what it's all about."

LADIE CLAIR SAYS: J.C. Got The Wheel.

2. To Play Bass
